1. What is a Descriptive Essay? (বর্ণনামূলক প্রবন্ধ কী?)

English: A descriptive essay is like "painting a picture with words". Its main goal is to make the reader feel as if they are experiencing the topic firsthand. To do this, you must use the five senses: sight, sound, smell, taste, and touch.

বাংলা: বর্ণনামূলক প্রবন্ধ (Descriptive Essay) হলো "শব্দ দিয়ে ছবি আঁকার" মতো। এর মূল উদ্দেশ্য হলো পাঠক যেন লেখাটি পড়ার সময় নিজেই বিষয়টি অনুভব করতে পারেন। এজন্য আমাদের পাঁচটি ইন্দ্রিয় ব্যবহার করতে হয়: দর্শন (দেখা), শ্রবণ (শোনা), ঘ্রাণ (শোঁকা), স্বাদ এবং স্পর্শ।

2. The 5-Paragraph Essay Structure (৫-প্যারাগ্রাফের গঠনশৈলী)

The notes outline a strict structure for a 200-300 word essay:

Paragraph 1: Introduction (ভূমিকা)

• Hook Sentence: An interesting starting sentence to grab the reader’s attention.

• Supporting Details: At least 3 sentences providing background info.

• Thesis Statement: A final sentence stating exactly what the essay is about.

• বাংলা: প্রথমে একটি আকর্ষণীয় লাইন (Hook) দিয়ে শুরু করতে হবে, মাঝে কমপক্ষে ৩টি বাক্য থাকবে এবং শেষে একটি মূল বক্তব্য (Thesis Statement) দিয়ে প্যারাগ্রাফটি শেষ হবে।

• Paragraphs 2, 3 & 4: The Body (মূল অংশ)

• Three paragraphs, each focusing on a different aspect or sensory experience of the topic.

• বাংলা: এখানে ৩টি প্যারাগ্রাফ থাকবে। প্রতিটি প্যারাগ্রাফে বিষয়ের ভিন্ন ভিন্ন দিক বা ইন্দ্রিয়গ্রাহ্য অভিজ্ঞতা (যেমন দেখতে কেমন বা শব্দ কেমন) নিয়ে আলোচনা করা হবে।

• Paragraph 5: Conclusion (উপসংহার)

• Begin with a summary statement, wrap up your thoughts, and leave a final lasting impression on the reader.

• বাংলা: একটি সারসংক্ষেপ দিয়ে শুরু করে নিজের ভাবনাগুলো গুছিয়ে শেষ করতে হবে, যেন পাঠকের মনে একটি গভীর ছাপ রেখে যায়।
